100 Ways to Encourage a New Mom by Lisa-Jo Baker

Pinning on the Pinterest the other day, I came across this pin (say that three times fast).  Lisajobaker.com has 100 Ways to Encourage a New Mom.  On her website she says "Thank you to everyone who encouraged me through each of my three seasons as a sleep-deprived-deeply-exhausted-and-utterly-ecstatic new mom. I’m delighted to pass it on…"
Read the post, you won't be disappointed and it's great information to share.

Baby Shower Q&A: When Should we Have the Baby Shower?

From time to time, we get questions from our customers and blog readers looking for baby shower tips and advice.  A question we get a lot is:

When should we have the shower?

A baby shower should be in the third trimester of the pregnancy, maybe a a month or two before the baby's due date.

This is a good time because for those who want to know the gender of their baby do by this time.  It gives the mommy to be a chance to use the items received at the baby shower to prepare for baby.  Some babies arrive a few weeks early, so a month or two before the baby gets here to have the shower should work great.

Gift & Tell!

When opening the baby shower gifts, have each baby shower guest pick up the baby shower gift that they brought and hand it to the Mother to be.

Have the mommy-to-be tell everyone the guest's name and how they know the mother to be and a cute little story if possible about their relationship.

After she opens the baby shower gift take a picture of the two of them along with the gift and place it in a baby shower photo album!

I have found this to work best, when there are about 10-15 guests, if there is anymore than that, then the game may drag on longer than you want.  A good way to shorten the game: instead of the guest handing the gift to the mom to be, when the mom to be gets to the gift, they tell how they know the guest only.

Green Baby Shower Gift Ideas

I am a Green Queen! Okay so maybe I'm exaggerating just a tad.

I am however very environmentally conscious, even with Wee Bit Trendy.  Remember that our products are made to reduce waste, as when you take them apart, 95% of the product is usable or reusable.

As we were surfing the world wide web, we came across a Green Gift Idea Checklist that we had to share. Gives great "green" gift ideas that any mommy would love.

Baby Shower Idea: Pamper Passages

Diapers are always needed with a new baby.  It's the most practical and useful gift that you can give a family with a new baby.

As the host for the baby shower, you can purchase a package of newborn diapers, and add a sticky note to each one (double-sided tape is also useful for this).  As each guest arrives, give them a diaper to write a note of encouragement to the mommy and daddy to be.  The first few weeks, even months of parenthood can be tough, so encouragement can help reduce some stress and create smiles during diaper duty.

It's also a great temporary keepsake for the new parents and baby.

Baby Shower Bingo with A Twist!

Everyone loves a little Bingo now and then, and most of us have played our fair share of your traditional game at a Baby Shower. However, if you want a modern twist to your average baby shower game, try Baby Shower Bingo with a Twist!

Hand out blank bingo-style cards and have guests fill in the squares with gifts they think mom-to-be will receive. As presents are opened, players check off the corresponding squares. Whoever gets five in a row calls out "Baby Bingo" and wins. If nobody gets a bingo, whoever predicts the most gifts correctly wins.

This is also a very easy Do-It-Yourself game.  Instead of having to print out images on card, you can just print blank boxes on cards, or blank pieces of paper.  Makes for an easy and affordable game.
