Winner Takes All – Baby Shower Game

Winner Takes All – Baby Shower Game

This is a great babyshower game, and best used near the end of the babyshower.

You'll need:

A Bottle of All Detergent
A Bank for the Baby
Here are some quick instructions of what to do:

At this point, guests should be comfortable enough with each other, especially after playing a few other games, and mingling.

  1. Explain that the game is called “WINNER TAKES ALL”, and that you will collect any amount of money from each guest, no matter how much or how little they are willing to give. Tell them that the person who comes closest to guessing the total amount in the bag wins all. (Be sure to only say wins all and not win "it" all.)
  2. Collect the money from the guests and place it in a bag.  Preferably a paper bag or fabric sack would be ideal.  Do not let the guests who are playing see how much the other guests are putting in the bag.
  3. Count the money away from the guests (of course).
  4. While you are counting the money, have the guests write down their name and their guess on a piece of paper.
  5. Come back in and collect the pieces of paper.
  6. Whoever guesses the closest to the amount collected WINS.
  7. Remember to say WINNER takes ALL.
CATCH:
Instead of getting money, they get a big bottle of ALL detergent. The money goes to the parents. To make this even cooler, you can transfer the money to a baby bank.

Yup, so actually they will a bottle of ALL, but they also helped the new baby and the parents.

It’s a very fun game, and people are surprised all the time that they don’t get money. Everyone gets a kick out of it.

Try it at your next baby shower. I am sure it will be hit! If it is, mention that you heard about it from Wee Bit Trendy! Thanks!

Now you can tweak this game as you like, our suggestions:
  • Everyone who is going to play at least puts a dollar in the bag.
  • “Price is Right Rules” apply, you have to guess the amount without going over.

Baby Shower Game: Baby Gift Bingo

Baby Gift Bingo

Make up a set of blank bingo cards (it's easy to find a printable version online).

Pass them out to the guests before the gifts are opened, and have them fill in the squares with the kinds of gifts they think the parents-to-be will receive.

Each square must have a different item in it.

As each gift is opened, if a guest has that item in one of her squares, she puts an X over it.

Whenever a guest ends up with a complete row of X's, she calls out "Baby Bingo!" and wins a small prize.

This keeps all eyes on the parents-to-be as they opens gifts and is lots of fun.

Baby Shower Game: The Gift of Advice

The Gift of Advice

As each guest arrives, ask her to write down her name and a small piece of parenting advice for the new mother. If a guest doesn't have kids, she can share something her own parents did that was helpful.

Later, as the mom-to-be is opening each present, read aloud the advice offered by the person whose gift is being opened.  It's sure to put a smile on everyone's face.

Car Seat Safety Stickers: CHAD & WHALE

Children may be riding in a vehicle with adults and in the unfortunate action of an accident, if the adult in the vehicle is seriously injured or unable to talk, those responding to the emergency may have no easy way of identifying the child.

There are two programs that were created to help identify children in the unfortunate event of a car accident: CHAD & W.H.A.L.E.

CHAD (The CHAD safety seat child identification program) was developed and named after a 13 month old named Chad.  Chad and his baby-sitter who was driving were involved in a car accident where the baby-sitter was killed.  Chad was injured and none of the first responders knew his identity.  Only because a nurse in the emergency room recognized him was he identified.  His parents were quickly notified and his injuries were treated.

The CHAD Program encourages CHAD stickers to be placed on your child’s car seat and provides rapid identification in case of an emergency.

W.H.A.L.E. is short for "We Have A Little Emergency". W.H.A.L.E.™ stickers are placed on both rear side windows of the car and on both sides of the child safety seat so that emergency personnel will know immediately that there is vital information pertaining to the child on the back of the car seat. The W.H.A.L.E.™ car sticker contains the child's name, medical history, names and telephone numbers of two guardians and up to three other emergency names and telephone numbers.
